The game of Texas Holdem poker takes moments to pick up, but there is so much happening during an actual hand that it may take several yrs before a player is skillful enough to win consistently. It all begins with the 1st two cards. Recognising when to play and when to skip on a hand is the 1st important step to succeeding at Texas Holdem poker. Now, I'm going to check out a series of opening hands and what you should think of doing when you get them. This list presumes that you're playing at a table with 7 or more players and that you're fairly inexperienced to the game of Poker.

The Big Hands

If you pick up any of the next 4 hands, you should raise when it is your turn to play. If somebody has raised the pot already then re-raise.

The 4 big hands are:

A pair of aces , pair of kings, pair of queens and ace/king.

The Limp Hands

Whenever you see yourself with an upper level pair of 8s, 9s, 10s or Jacks, you would like to limp in the pot, which means to merely call the lowest bet. Nevertheless, if somebody has raised the pot, you need to look at folding. You're most probably beat. A few players will limp in with any pair, a few with pairs of 4s or higher and so on. This is something you'll work out for yourself.

The Connectors

There are times when you'll prefer to limp in with hands that can maybe pay off. Generally, you'll play these hands once you're in the blinds or late position (among the last to act). If the pot gets raised, fold.

These hands are:

ace/queen ace/jack, ace/ten, king/queen, king/jack, queen/jack, and maybe jack/ten. If these hands are suited, their value rises, because you gain the possible action of a flush or straight flush.

A lot of less tried players get in difficulty with a few of these hands. Determine when to lay down hands and your monies will go up. If you've a hand that's not listed here, it should most likely be folded. There are times, when exactly, where you may prefer to play something like a six/five (suited). Nevertheless, playing too numerous trash hands will milk away your chips. At 1st, you need to play tight. While you study the game of Poker, open up and extend your playing power.
